Where To Go and What To See

On Safari

Southern Africa offers fantastic destinations that promise unforgettable encounters with wildlife including the "Big FIve" - elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo.

 

Kruger National Park in South Africa is a top choice, featuring a vast array of animals and diverse landscapes. The first National Park in South Africa is Hluhluwe-iMfolozi.

 

Alternatively, Chobe National Park in Botswana is known for its large elephant population and stunning river views. Etosha National Park in Namibia is another option.

​

In addition to the National Parks there are numerous private wildlife reserves that offer a more luxurious and personal viewing experience. 

 

Reserves in South Africa include Sabi Sands; Timbavati; Phinda and Manyeleti.  In Botswana the Okavango Delta is a prime place to visit.

Namibia

A stunning country with fantastic landscapes.  Visit Sossusvlei and the sand dunes of the Namib Desert. 

​

In the northwest visit Damaraland for rock art and geological featrues.  Then Skeleton coast for the graveyard of shipwrecks.  The Kaokoland region includes Hoanib Valley and Epupa Falls.

Victoria Falls

On the Zambezi River between Zimbabwe and Zambia Victoria Falls is a short distance from the Chobe Park in Botswana.  The Falls are one of the largest in the world.

South Africa

A stunning all year round destination known for its diverse landscapes and rich culture.

 

Key attractions in the Western Cape Province include Cape Town and the breathtaking Table Mountain; Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned; the Cape of Good Hope; the beautiful winelands around Franschhoek and Stellenbosch; Hermanus for whale watching in season; the southernmost point in Africa at Cape Agulhas where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet and the Garden Route area of outstanding beauty.

 

In and around Johannesburg experience a township tour; visit the Apartheid Museum and The Cradel of Humankind.

 

iIn KwaZulu Natal Province experience the majestic Drakensberg Mountains; the Battlefields area where wars were fought between the Boers and Zulus; the Britsih and Zulus and the Boers and British.  Then to Durban for its beaches and St Lucia for a hippo and croc tour and the iSimangaliso wetlands - a World Heritage Site.

​

​In the Northerm Cape there is Namaqualand for spectacular spring flowers; Augrabies Falls on the Orange River and Kimberley for the "big hole" that resulted from diamond mining.

​

In Mpumulamnga the Panorama Route includes Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes; waterfalls and God's Window.

Botswana

Although the main reason for visiting Botswana is the wildlife there is stunning scenery in the Okavango Delta where you can experience a trip in a mokoro dugout canoe.

Other Areas of Interest

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park; Augrabies Falls; The Karoo; Lesotho and eSwatini are all worth considering.
